WHERE WE ARE
To visit the extreme south of Patagonia is to see planet Earth around 10.000 years ago, over the end of the last glacial era, as time would have stopped.
Its is still a virgin and not so explored, of amazing beauty, it offers a series of unique and natural sights in the world, such as the Patagonian ice and some of the most stunning granite mountain range of Patagonia: mt Fitz Roy (3441 m), mt Torre (3128 m), Paine mt (3050 m) and Moreno, Viedma and Upsala glaciers among others. The region also has lakes, rivers native woods and glaciers.
How to get there
There are daily departures by bus from Buenos Aires up to Rio Gallegos where you can do a combination by bus (constantly departing) to El Calafate and then El Chalten.
By car from Buenos Aires taking route 3 up to Rio Gallegos, then route 5(that later on meets Route 40) up to El Calafate and then El Chalten by route 40 deviating on the Wets by route 23 to finally reach El Chalten. A shorter options is to take route 288,a gravel road that comes out of Piedra Buena up to Tres Lagos and then take route 23 to the west until reaching El Chalten.( please check the condition of the road previously).
Aerolíneas Argentinas y LAN tienen vuelos diarios desde Buenos Aires, Ushuaia y Bariloche hacia El Calafate, que es el aeropuerto más cercano. Desde allí se sigue por tierra a El Chaltén (hay varias frecuencias diarias de buses y también rentadoras de auto en El Calafate).
Access to Calafate Mountain Park
In order to Access the bases of the mount you can take the regular service of transportation (fixed Schedule) that can be hired in our offices located in town or arrive on your own.
20 minutes form town you can see Mt. Huyliche, in which you can access with our balcony chair lift of 350m of drop. From de El Calafate balcony located at 980 m over sea level, we can appreciate the best views of Argentine Lake and the Andes natural frame.
